Things You Need to Know: COVID-19 Pandemic Reopening Action Plan

To our valued patients,

Along with our dental team, we hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our clinic’s commitment to you and your family’s safety and care.

Infection control has always been a top priority at Limestone City Dental. We follow recommendations and guidelines made by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, federal, provincial and municipal governments, Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Public Health, and various other stakeholders in health. This allows us to make sure that our infection control procedures are up-to-date and enables us to provide the safest environment for our patients and their family members.

We have implemented additional safety precautions to help protect patients and staff. When we contact you to reschedule your appointment, our staff will conduct a COVID-19 questionnaire with you on the phone. This questionnaire must be completed before you arrive for your appointment. We will postpone treatment for any patient who has experienced or been in contact with someone who has experienced any of the following symptoms within 14 days of the scheduled appointment date:

  • fever (elevated temperature), cough, flu-like symptoms, shortness of breath, loss of sense of taste or smell, OR
  • if over 70 years of age and has any of the above symptoms, OR new onset of increased confusion, falls or general health decline.

Upon arrival at our clinic, we ask that you remain in the inner entrance until a staff member greets you. All our staff will be wearing all the recommended personal protective equipment. We ask that patients enter the clinic unaccompanied, if possible. For those patients who need a guardian to accompany them, we ask that this be limited to a single family member. Every person entering the clinic is expected to wear a face mask (which we will provide) and to sanitize their hands immediately upon entry. A staff member will take your temperature with a contactless thermometer, as well as provide you with a COVID-19 Pandemic Dental Treatment Consent Form for your review and signature.

You will notice some other differences at Limestone City Dental. We will be scheduling appointments in a manner that promotes social distancing and allows for adequate time to disinfect all areas of use in between appointments. Other things you will notice are the limited number of chairs in our wait room, a state-of-the-art, medical-grade high efficiency particulate arrestance (HEPA) system, as well as Lexan glass screens in the reception area. The screens will minimize exposure to airborne pathogens and the HEPA system will help improve air quality in the clinic. Our wait rooms will no longer offer magazines, charging stations, or children’s toys in an effort to minimize contact and to maximize infection control.

Thank you for being part of our family dental practice, and for your patience as we ensure a safe reopening of our clinic to protect you, your family and staff. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors, and friends. We will see you soon.

On behalf of all of us at Limestone City Dental, yours most sincerely,

Drs. Paul Lefebvre, Anna-Marie Turney & Darren Van Winckle
